🔹“百聞一泊に如かず”が常識を変える
名古屋・東京・ニセコに拠点を構え、全国にFCを展開するウェルネストホーム。
提供するのは、高性能な戸建て住宅。さらにグループのウェルネストR&Dでは、集合住宅やニセコのコンドミニアム、ヴィラなど非住宅プロジェクトも手がける。
特徴的なのは「試住（しじゅう）」。車に試乗、服に試着があるように、家も“試しに住む”ことができなければおかしい。体感すれば高い確率で購入を決めるという。
「想像ではなく体感がすべて。温度も湿度も一定で、外が酷暑でも氷点下でも全室快適。だからこそ自信を持って“試住”を提供しています。」
🔹ゼロから会社を立ち上げるということ
ウェルネストホームもR&Dも、0から立ち上げた創業メンバーとしての挑戦だった。
教師として教育メソッドを磨いていたさゆりさんは、仙台のセミナーで出会った創業者から声をかけられた。
彼は現場も営業も熟知し、10年で3,300棟を引き渡した実績を持つ人物。
「教育を任せたい」──その一言が、異業種への大きな転機となった。
🔹「持続可能であるか」で選ぶ、いばらの道
経営判断の基準は、損得ではなく未来につながるかだという。
「“今だけ、金だけ、自分だけ”の考えは危険。持続可能でなければ社会課題の解決につながりません。それが未来につながるのであれば、いばらの道でも進みます。」
🔹ニセコから未来を描く
セミナーで出会ったニセコ町長との縁から始まったプロジェクト。
ドイツ・ヴォーバンの街づくり思想を現地で学び、日本に持ち込んだ。
2022年にはニセコ庁舎の断熱・気密監修にも参画。観光地としてのニセコに、「住空間の快適さの重要性」という視点を根づかせている。
🔹AIでは届けられないもの
AIが議事録も顧客対応も担う時代になった。
だがさゆりさんは言う。
「スピードと効率はAIに任せられる。でも“愛”はAIには届けられない。
想いを伝え、人の心を動かすこと──それだけは人間の役割。」
採用面接で重視するのも、愛のある人間であるかどうか。
「夢を持っているか。自分は運がいいと思っているか。それを確認しています。夢を持ち、運がいいと思っている人は自燃性で自己愛がある人だからです。」
🔹職人さんたちの匠の技術を守り、継承していきたい
日本の住宅といえば「きつい・汚い・危険」の3K。これでは家を建てる職人さんに憧れる子どもも増えない。
「快適・健康・環境貢献」という新しい3Kを根づかせたいと語る。
その発想の背景には、ドイツで学んだマイスターの存在がある。
ドイツでは大工は弁護士や医師と同じ社会的ステータスを持ち、「健康で幸せに暮らす住環境をつくる職業」として尊敬されている。
「弁護士や医者は“ことが起きてから”の仕事。けれど大工さんは“命を守る場所をつくる”予防の仕事なんです。」
「日本には“式年遷宮”という文化があります。神様のお引越しという目的の他、過去から受け継いできた技術を若い職人さんに継承するという重要な意味がある。匠の技術がなければ命と健康を守る家は建てられません。」
日本の職人の地位を高め、高い技術を持つマイスターを育てる学校をつくりたい──それが彼女の次なる夢だ。
🔹原体験から未来へ──リーダーシップと継承
「リーダーシップは突然できるものではない。子どもの頃からの小さな成功体験、苦難を乗り越えた原体験の積み重ねで育つ。」
文化を理解し、違いに対応する力。机上の空論ではなく、行動に裏打ちされた経験こそが本物のリーダーをつくる。
さゆりさんが思い描く10年後の未来は、そのリーダーシップが次世代へ自然に引き継がれている社会だ。
「創業当時に掲げたビジョンが次の世代へもしっかりと受け継がれ、私たち創業メンバーが口出しせずとも再現されている姿をイメージしています。」
さらにそのビジョンは日本にとどまらず、海外へと広がっていく構想を描いている。
🔹「自分の人生は自分で切り拓く」
もし自分の人生を映画にするなら、そのタイトルはこうだという。
「自分でシナリオを描き、自分で歩く。ご“縁”は応“援”者を増やし、やがて“円”になって広がっていく。」
教師からの転身、ゼロからの起業、数々の出会いと挑戦──すべてが自分の選択によって切り拓いてきた道だった。
「人生は繰り返し。挑戦も苦労も、次の誰かが引き継いでいく。その流れをつくるのが、私の役割だと思っています。」

🔹 Changing the Rules with “Trial Living”
Wellnest Home, with offices in Nagoya, Tokyo, and Niseko and franchise locations across Japan, provides high-performance houses.
Its group company, Wellnest R&D, develops apartments, condominiums, and villas in Niseko, expanding beyond family homes.
A key feature is trial living. Just as you can test-drive a car or try on clothes, you should be able to “test live” in a house. Once people experience it, many decide to buy.
“Experience is everything. Temperature and humidity stay constant, whether it’s blazing hot or freezing cold outside. That’s why we confidently offer trial living.”
🔹 Starting a Company from Zero
Sayuri was a teacher before joining the housing industry. At a seminar in Sendai, she met the founder of Wellnest, who had delivered 3,300 homes in ten years.
He asked her to take charge of education in the new company. That one encounter became a turning point, and she helped launch both Wellnest Home and R&D as a founding member.
🔹 Choosing What Is Sustainable
For Sayuri, decisions are not based on profit but on whether they lead to a sustainable future.
“Thinking only of short-term profit is dangerous. If it doesn’t help solve social issues, it won’t last. If it’s the right thing for the future, I’ll take that path, even if it’s difficult.”
🔹 From Niseko to the Future
A connection with the mayor of Niseko led to new projects inspired by the eco-town concept of Vauban in Germany.
In 2022, Wellnest R&D supervised insulation and airtightness for Niseko’s new town hall, embedding the idea that “comfort in living spaces” is essential even in tourist areas.
🔹 What AI Can’t Deliver
Today AI can take meeting notes and handle customer responses. But Sayuri is clear:
“AI can provide speed and efficiency, but it cannot give love. Touching people’s hearts and sharing feelings — that is something only humans can do.”
When hiring, she looks for people with dreams and a belief in their own good fortune.
“Those people have self-motivation and a positive energy that naturally inspires others.”
🔹 Protecting and Passing on Craftsmanship
Japan’s housing industry is often seen as “hard, dirty, and dangerous.” Sayuri wants to redefine it as “comfortable, healthy, and contributing to the environment.”
Her vision is shaped by Germany, where carpenters (Meisters) are respected on the same level as doctors and lawyers.
“Doctors and lawyers act after something has gone wrong. But carpenters prevent problems by creating safe, healthy homes. They literally build the place where life is protected.”
She also points to Japan’s tradition of Shikinen Sengu at Ise Shrine, where rebuilding is a way to pass skills to the next generation.
“Without craftsmanship, safe homes cannot exist. I want to raise the status of Japanese builders and one day create schools to train Meister-level professionals.”
🔹 Leadership Built on Experience, Passed to the Future
“Leadership doesn’t appear suddenly. It grows through small successes and the experience of overcoming difficulties.”
True leadership, she says, is not theory but practice: understanding cultures, facing challenges, and acting from experience.
Her vision for ten years ahead is clear:
“The vision we set at the beginning will still be alive, carried forward by the next generation without us needing to interfere.”
And she hopes to see that vision expand beyond Japan, building communities worldwide.
🔹 “Writing My Own Script”
If her life were a movie, Sayuri says the title would be: “I Write My Own Script.”
“I design the story and walk the path myself. Connections (en) turn into supporters (ouen), and eventually into circles (en) that keep expanding.”
From teaching, to founding companies, to building towns — every step has been her own choice.
“Life repeats. Challenges and struggles will always come, but the next generation will continue them. My role is to create that flow.”
